Visitor Parking: Please park on the west side of the campus in grass labeled "visitor parking". For people needing walking assistance, please park in drive next to the Millhouse. Entrance for tours is the main double doors located on the south side of the home facing the street. Please ring the door bell and a docent will assist you.
NOTE: Not all of the Museum's buildings are handicap accessible. These buildings are the Millhouse, Schoolhouse, and Clancy second floor. Keep in mind the tour is also 2 hours long during the regular tour season. Please plan accordingly. Thank you!
The Humboldt County Historical Museum has a variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages. Whether you want to work behind the scenes or help give tours, we got you covered!
High School Students
The HCHM provides opportunities for high school students to achieve volunteer hours in their service groups or Silver Chord hours.

For college students looking to fulfill there internship requirement, the HCHM provides students with a rich educational environment to learn the basics on how Museum's operate and serve their community.

Education and how that fits into Museums: events, seminars, classes, displays, etc.

Docent: Be one of the faces of the HCHM by giving visitors a rich educational tour experience!
Archives Assistant: Help out behind the scenes preserving our archives.
Collections Assistant: Ever wondered how donated items are handled at the Museum? Volunteer in the collections helping with accessioning and cataloguing our items!
Events: Sign up to be on our Events Volunteer List and help the Museum put on special events and seminars for the community!
Maintenance and Grounds: Volunteer to help the Museum keep our buildings functioning and keep our grounds clean
House Keeping: Help out once a month in cleaning our buildings during the tour season!
Garden/Landscaping: Work with our Head Gardener and Landscape committee to maintain the beautiful gardens and landscaping at the Museum!
