"Golden Days of Youth" Youth Schoolhouse Program

Have you ever wondered how students in the one-room schoolhouse days were taught? Sign your child up for one of two days beginning April 1st, 2021 for this wonderful program! Children will learn the daily regiment of the students in the 1800s with fun activities and games. But hurry fast! The maximum number for each class is 25. Deadline is July 23rd, 2021 at 4:00pm.

To register: please fill out the google form below or stop on by the Museum Office starting Monday April 19th to register in person. Students must be between the ages 7 to 12. Due to the class seat limit, please keep the number of children registering to 2 per family. Thank you!

Children's Program: Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Prairie Pioneers

Sign your child up for this fun children's program all about Laura Ingalls Wilder and the prairie pioneers! Students will learn about Ms. Wilder's story as a pioneer on the frontier as well as how her story relates to the Iowa pioneers who came over and settled the untamed prairie lands through fun instruction, games, and activities. To register:

-Child must be between the ages of 7 and 18

-Registration is FREE

-Event date: Friday, June 18th at 1:00pm in the Clancy Classroom

"Butterflies and Bees: How to Support Your Pollinator Friends"

Have you ever wondered who "pollinates" the wonderful plants in Iowa? Do you want to learn how to help our wonderful pollinator friends? Register for this fun event! Jim Sayers, President of the Humboldt Soil and Water Conservation Board, and the Museum's Head Landscaper Donna Day will be hosting this event with guest speaker Sarah Nizzi from the Xerces Society of Iowa. Guests will learn about efforts to protect the pollinator friends in Iowa as well as enjoy a tour of the gardens and the Museum's efforts to protect the pollinator population! Not to mention, guests will get to take their own plant home and win door prizes while enjoying a nice dinner provided by the Soil and Conservation Board. Veteran's Day Open house

In honor of the brave men and women who put their life on the line protecting our nation, stop by the Museum to see the Military Room designed by our wonderful volunteers in honor of the men and women of the county who joined the wars.

Victorian Christmas Décor Classes

The Museum is offering two Christmas décor classes, one for children and one for teens and adults, all about how to make Victorian Christmas décor! The children's décor class is for children 7 to 12 who want to learn how to make Victorian ornaments. The Victorian Décor class is for anyone ages 14+ who want to learn how to make Victorian Christmas décor. Registration begins November 1st but act fast! We are only taking 25 people for each class. Deadline is November 26th, 2021 at 4:00pm.
